MetalMetric builds live precious metals calculators and portfolio tools for stackers, investors, estate sellers, and coin hunters. Every number on our site is calculated from live market data against verified physical specifications — not approximated, not rounded for convenience, not copied from other sites.

What We Build

MetalMetric's tools cover the full lifecycle of physical precious metals: buying (live spot prices, melt value calculators, dealer comparisons), holding (portfolio vault with real-time P&L, price alerts, cost basis tracking), and selling (scrap gold calculator, junk silver calculator, market timing tools).

We are the only app with native Goldback support — tracking all denominations across all issuing state series. Our gold-silver ratio tool includes historical context and signal detection. Our Shanghai premium tools explain closed arbitrage dynamics that most Western investors don't know exist.

Data Sources

Live Spot Prices Updated every 60 seconds. Gold (XAU) and silver (XAG) priced against COMEX and LBMA benchmarks.

Karat Purity Data US Mint specifications, FTC 16 CFR Part 23, and verified physical coin specifications from LBMA and sovereign mints.

Junk Silver ASW Per-coin actual silver weights from US Mint specifications. The 715 oz/face standard is the practical dealer benchmark; 723.4 oz is theoretical mint spec.

Goldback Gold Content Verified from Goldback Inc. specifications: exactly 0.001 troy oz of 24K gold per 1-denomination note via physical vapor deposition (PVD).

Editorial Standards

Every factual claim in our educational content is sourced to primary sources — statutes, mint specifications, regulatory filings, or peer-reviewed data. We do not repeat dealer talking points without verification. We do not omit unfavorable facts (including the honest math on Goldback premiums, the 28% collectibles tax rate, and the real cost-structure reason refiners pay more than pawnshops).

All historical dates are verified against primary sources (US Mint records, Federal Register, congressional records)
Coin specifications cite official mint publications (US Mint, Royal Canadian Mint, South African Mint)
Tax information cites IRC section numbers; we note it is general information, not tax advice
FTC and legal references cite specific CFR section numbers
Premium data (Goldback, scrap payout percentages) is based on observed market ranges, not guarantees
We disclose affiliate relationships transparently (SD Bullion, Awin network)

What We Don't Do

We don't sell gold. We don't give investment advice. We don't manufacture urgency or use fear-based copywriting about currency collapse or hyperinflation. We calculate melt values and explain physical metal specifications accurately — then let you decide what to do with that information.
