About This Coin

The Canadian Gold Maple Leaf contains exactly 1 troy ounce of .9999 fine gold (24-karat) — one of the purest gold coins in the world. Produced by the Royal Canadian Mint since 1979, it was the first gold bullion coin to achieve .999 purity and later upgraded to .9999.

The Maple features advanced anti-counterfeiting technology including a micro-engraved maple leaf privy mark visible only under magnification, radial lines on both surfaces, and a laser-engraved DNA mark. These security features make it one of the hardest gold coins to counterfeit.

Premiums on Gold Maples are typically 2-5% over spot — slightly lower than American Gold Eagles, making them one of the most cost-efficient government gold coins. The .9999 purity means the coin is softer than the 22-karat Eagle and more susceptible to scratching, so careful handling is recommended. Gold Maples are IRA-eligible and recognized worldwide.

Collector vs Melt Value

Bullion dates trade at 2-5% over spot. Special editions with privy marks, colored designs, and the 2007 100-kilo coin carry significant premiums.
